KlassikPhilharmonie Hamburg
The repertoire of this elite orchestra includes every composer from the Baroque to the modern period as well as covering the whole range of musical style, from heavyweight symphonic works to light entertainment.
Since 1966 a special attraction has been the Hamburg Last Night of the Proms, which succeeds in conjuring up the atmosphere of the London Proms in a Hamburg setting.
Formerly known as the Hamburg Mozart Orchestra, the KlassikPhilharmonie Hamburg was founded in 1978 by conductor Robert Stehli, who still conducts the orchestra today. It has two performance ensembles – as a 23 member chamber orchestra (the original Mozart Orchestra) and as a chamber symphony orchestra made up of 55 musicians (the KlassikPhilharmonie).
When at home in Hamburg, the orchestra generally gives its concerts in the Laeiszhalle.
