In Hamburg, openness is traditional

Hamburg is many-sided and full of surprises. A green metropolis with ultra-modern architecture, a lively ‘in’ scene, a wide range of cultural possibilities and practically unlimited shopping: this gateway to the world is among the most exciting travel destinations you can find. On the banks of the Alster or the Elbe and around the Michel church and the Reeperbahn you will find a liberal spirit, one that combines tradition with modernity. There is the Gay Village in St. Georg, the Party Mile in St. Pauli and a whole lot more to discover!

Whether cultural or culinary - the harbour city has just the thing for every taste, no matter how off-beat. Traditional German cooking and Cordon Bleu, ballet and comedy, dance halls and wine bars, women-only and leather - if Hamburg hasn't got it, no one has. Trends and novelties do particularly well under Hamburg's sun. It's no coincidence that Germany's first gay marriage was officiated here either.

Hamburg means legendary nightlife, fabulous hotels, cultural delicacies and a charming big-city élan. At the following pages you will find some interesting tips.

Enjoy it and have fun!
