Elbe Beach & Strandperle Cafe

You’ve finished your shopping trip or your museum visit and outside the sun’s shining? Then don’t hang around, it’s off Elbe Beach!

On nice days the shore at Oevelgönne beneath the Elbchaussee is as crowded as Copacabana. The place to see and be seen is the Strandperle, an "in" cafe right on the water’s edge where you can get sausage and potato salad, coffee, soft drinks and beer to go. There they all sit, contemplating the water, blinking in the sun and satisfied with life.

So, grab your bathing things (even if they are more for sunbathing than for taking a dip...) and a good book, and plunge into a typical Hamburg pleasure!
