SKIDS

NEUROOT
The band was founded in 1980 by Marcel Stol in Doesburg, with singer Schaar (Leon Dekker) and guitarist Wouter Noordhoff, H.P. (Hans Peter van Beuzekom) on drums and Marcel as bass guitarist. The first performance was in 1980 in a squat in Zutphen. Then came the first performances in Arnhem in 1981 in café Het Luifeltje and in November in the Jacobiberg. Singer Schaar was replaced by Wouter on vocals. Ed (Edwin van Dalen) joined the band as a guitarist, coming from the wave band Anne Frank & de Razzia's. First performances in the second line-up were in 1982 at the Antifascism Festival and as support for the Blitz (UK), both in the Stokvishal; the performance at the Antifascism Festival was issued in small edition on MC as 'Live Stokvishal 1982') In 1983 a music cassette was recorded in Venlo for the cassette label Limbabwe, which was very positively received by fanzines such as Koekrant and MaximumRocknroll; the MC was reissued in 2009 as a Vinyl Album on the Dutch / German label Coalition / Prügelprinz) In 1985 drummer H.P. replaced by Django Hebing, followed a year later by Piet Scritic (including Idiots (GER). With Django, six songs are recorded in Emma's Koeienverhuurbedrijf by Dolf Planteijdt, then located in the Emma squat in Amsterdam. Four songs end up on the self-published EP 'Right is Might'; the six songs in total end up on a split LP on the US label Pusmort (from the famous Pushead (a.o. later designer for Metallica). The six songs were reissued in 2012 as a Vinyl Album by the US label Havoc Rex. Two songs were recorded live with Piet in the Amsterdam Emma for a 'Remember Soweto' ANC benefit sampler. In the years 1987-1988 Ben (Jaco Benders) played drums in the band. With him the Album 'Plead Insanity' was recorded in the Tango Studio in Eindhoven for the Belgian Hageland Hardcore Label (Rereleased in 2021 on the German Power it Up label).Neuroot mainly played in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and Copenhagen in the 1980s.After the 1988 tour (a.o. with Napalm Death) in England the band calls it a day.

In the years 1984 -1990, Neuroot founder and bassist Marcel Stol is also co-founder and driving force behind the creation and development of the internationally renowned Punk stage De Goudvishal. There he is a programmer, poster designer, chairman and in the years 2018-2022 the driving force behind the releases of the two Live LPs 'Live at Goudvishal 1984-1990' Volume 1 and Volume 2 and, together with Henk Wentink, the book 'Goudvishal : DIY or Die! Punk in Arnhem, Holland 1977-1990'

In 2012 the band makes a new start to record a new song for the album Punk's not deaf with Ares Lux as new drummer under the project name 'Neuroot DeLuxe'. In 2018 guitarist Edwin leaves the band, just after the release of the new LP 'Obuy and Die' on the German Civilization Records and just before the first Asia Tour to North China. Frank Capello is flown in at the last minute and is guitarist until 2023. Marcel will add the lead vocals in addition to the bass and Ares Lux will play the drums. The first Asia Tour takes in cities such as Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, Wuhan and Shanghai. In 2019, a new Vinyl EP with five songs ('Nazi-Frei' EP) is recorded in the Vuurland Studio in Utrecht for the US / UK fanzine Artcore in this line-up. A second Asia tour is also being undertaken, this time to southern China, Taiwan and Japan, including Hong Kong, Macau, Taipei, Tokyo and Osaka. For this occasion, the complete Discography up to that point, under the name 'Neurology', is released as 2xCD by the Japanese label Break the Records.

In 2021 the LP Plead Insanity is reissued (with a new cover) on the German label Power it Up! and in 2022 the German label Give em Hell / Threat from the Past will release a real Neuroot 'package', under the name 'Raw / Rare 1982-1988' containing an LP and CD with live, demo and rehearsal recordings as well as a reproduction from the Right is Might 7" vinyl EP.

At the beginning of 2023 there is a renewed line-up with OG 1980’s drummer Jaco and newcomer Luca on guitar. In this latest line up , Malaysia and Singapore is visited in May 2023.

A new album called ‘False Profit’ is released in 2024 and the first U$A tour is accomplished in may 2024 visiting 14 US cities on the East and West coast as well as the city of Reykjavik in Iceland. After a Central EU tour in 2024 and a 5th SE Asia and 1st Australia Tour in march 2025 guitarist Luca calls it
quits and new guitarist Joao steps in for more EU shows and a planned tour of South America in October / November of 2025.
