Im offenen Dialog führen Abdulhamid Kircher (Künstler) und Nadine Isabelle Henrich (Kuratorin) in die Ausstellung und die emotionalen Frequenzen der Arbeiten ein. Der deutsch-türkische Künstler Abdulhamid Kircher (*1996) setzt sich in seiner analogen Praxis mit den Folgen von Patriarchat und Gewalt sowie der Suche nach Versöhnung und Intimität auseinander. Seine Fotografien wirken wie ein fragmentarisches Familienalbum und spiegeln seine ambivalente Beziehung zu Familie und transgenerationales Trauma. Die Arbeiten geben schmerzhaften Erlebnissen ebenso Raum wie Momenten von Widerstand und Rausch.
Abdulhamid Kircher ist ein Künstler aus Queens, New York. Er wurde als Sohn deutscher und türkischer Eltern in Berlin geboren und wanderte im Alter von acht Jahren mit seiner Mutter in die Vereinigten Staaten aus. Er schloss 2018 sein Studium der Kultur- und Medienwissenschaften an der New School mit einem Bachelor of Arts ab und erwarb 2022 einen Master of Fine Arts in Bildender Kunst an der University of California in San Diego. Kirchers Fotobücher Rotting from Within (2024) und New Genesis (2026) erschienen bei Loose Joints, Marseille. Er erhielt den Grand Prix Images Vevey 2025/2026 und wurde mit dem Hamburger Bahnhof Studio Award 2026 ausgezeichnet.

In an open conversation, Abdulhamid Kircher (artist) and Nadine Isabelle Henrich (curator) introduce the exhibition and the emotional resonance of the works. In his analogue photographic practice, German-Turkish artist Abdulhamid Kircher (b. 1996) engages with the consequences of patriarchy and violence, as well as with the search for reconciliation and intimacy. His works can be read as a fragmentary family album, telling of Kircher's ambivalent relationship to his own history and transgenerational trauma. As a living archive, the presented works give shape to the relentless, aggressive and violent— but also to the resistant and intoxicating.
Abdulhamid Kircher is an artist from Queens, New York. He was born in Berlin to German and Turkish parents and emigrated to the United States with his mother at the age of eight. He received his BA in Culture and Media from The New School in 2018 and his MFA in Visual Arts from the University of California San Diego in 2022. Kircher’s photobooks Rotting from Within (2024) and New Genesis (2026) were both published by Loose Joints (Marseille). He received the Grand Prix Images Vevey 2025/2026 and was awarded the Hamburger Bahnhof Studio Award in 2026.
